I decided to pimp out my blog to inspire me to hop back on the blogging bandwagon.

I haven't been up to too much these days. Just the usual routine of going to uni, sleeping at ridiculously late hours, hardcore gaming on my DS, struggling through my readings, and hopping on the interwebs to not be a complete social hermit. =P

One of my units this semester is pretty interesting though. the reading this week was talking about why we envy people and all that. It says that no matter how much we have, how wealthy we feel will always be dependent on how we compare ourselves to those in our reference group. So, for instance, even though we may not care how rich Paris Hilton is or something, if someone we knew in high school were to become amazingly successful, we'd be envious. They also had a formula for self esteem:

self esteem = success/expectations

So, because we live in a society where we're bombarded with messages saying if we work hard enough we can achieve anything, we've come to expect more, and because rarely anyone would be able to buy or achieve everything they wanted, our self esteem is sucking and we're unhappier. Which is so damn true!

And this is also why I'm going to try and be happy with everything I have.

Which is REALLY going to contradict what I'm about to say now. lmao.

I've been watching this mustard blazer on eBay since...about a month or two ago. [yeah, it's been awhile.] But I'm not sure if I should buy it. It's about 26 bucks including postage. Although I'm probably going to make an offer and see if I can't get it a lot cheaper. It's been sitting there on eBay for awhile so I'm hoping for the best. =D Have a look!

...I just like mustard for some reason. funnily enough though, not the food product. lol

Sooo, what do you think?

Also, I have a dinner date with Roger tomorrow. YAY. We're usually doing more laid back stuff when we're out and about, so I tend to get a bit over excited when we do something fancy. =P And I always love the opportunity to dress up a bit. =D

Anywho!

I'm off to grab myself a zooper dooper. I am such a kid, but I can't help that they're so darn DELICIOUS!

Talk in awhile crocodiles!

Case File

Date: 22nd January, 2010

Victim: The closet

Suspects: Duong, eBay

Details:
Victim discovered by fashion police earlier today. Crime scene in disarray. Articles of clothing strewn across floor, bed, and desk. Suspect apprehended at the scene. Suspect names accomplice during questioning.

So....

Obviously I've been playing too much Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on my lovely Nintendo DS. In any case, I've started the almighty task of clearing out my closet. Well. Actually, first stop was my desk. It's where I plonked all my eBay purchases because my closet was too packed. -_- I'm actually letting go of quite a few items that I love. It's a shame they didn't fit well enough, I'm probably going to be really devastated once I list them on eBay. Ah well. =[

I haven't actually started on my closet yet. It's pretty daunting. And honestly, I don't think I have anything in my closet worth selling since it's some more of my older-ish stuff. But we'll see, you never know what you'll find in a clean out. Except a dead bug or two. That's always a bit disturbing. I'll probably be selling some of my shoes as well. Hm...

It's boiling in my room at the moment. That's why I had to stop after I finished sorting my desk. Trying on clothes, and taking off clothes is hard work. Especially in 40 degree heat. I'll probably get back to it later tonight when my room cools down. At the moment though, it looks unlikely that I'll finish sorting and listing. But, at least I've finally started, so that's something I'm pleased about. =]

In other news, I am sick. -_- I have a cold. I've been pumping myself with so much medicine though. It's not as bad as it could be I reckon. I first started feeling a bit off on Sunday, so I should be alright soon enough. I actually think taking medicine is prolonging it though. As strange as that sounds. It's like I'm just putting off the worst to later. =/ But nah. I'm okay. I just sound really nasally, and I'm sneezing a bit and have the odd cough. >.>

Arghhh. I wanted to blog about the concert I went to yesterday as well. (I was less sick yesterday, so it was fine. lol. I didn't even sneeze on anyone! Sometimes sharing is not caring. loll) Hm....I might do that tomorrow then. I think I've been rambling enough today.

So...that's it!

Reflection

I went in for a group job interview today. It was just on monday that I was telling Roger I wasn't going to get a call back. Then on Tuesday, I get the call, and I almost nearly crap myself from shock. So anyway, I go in today, and I was unsuccessful. lol. Honestly, I didn't think I would get the job anyway, so I'm not really disappointed about not getting the job. I am however, quite disappointed at myself for having such a massive brain fart. lol. We had to do this mock role play thing where we call up an existing supporter for a charity and ask them to increase their current donation. We even get given the script to read off. lol. So I go in there and my brain had a massive meltdown, and I DIDN'T READ THE SCRIPT! So, you know, epic fail there. lmao.

But yeah, realisticly, maybe it was the best way to get rejected from the job. Because in my head, I truly believe I could've done better. But in another sense, I just can't believe that in all the times I decide not to read off a sheet of paper with all the info right there for me, it was when it counted. LOL. I think that eats at me a little bit. It's so sad as well, because I think I would truly be unhappy if I DID get the job. =/ But I just can't believe how whacked out my brain went. All I can say though, is that this is a good learning experience. Although, it does make me worry about becoming a teacher. Once again. But don't worry, I'm just transferring my doubt into another area which I'm unsure about, which I do a lot when I feel like I let myself down.

But you know what. This was the best case scenario. I still have my freedom, and I don't have to stress out every time I reach for the phone to call someone. =P Next time, I think I'll go for something I actually enjoy. I think that'd inspire me to do better. =]

Sigh, I'm glad I got that off my chest.

Anyway, I have to make money some way, so FINALLY, I am vowing to myself that by friday night, I will have cleaned out my closet and listed all the decent items on eBay, and the items that I no longer wear that I don't think will sell, will go to charity. If you guys want something from the 'I don't think I'll sell it on eBay pile', I'll give it to you for free. Okalies?

Done!

Purchase Post

Finally, a purchase post! Have a look.

A lot of high waisted skirts, huh? =] The last one is actually supposed to be a beige-ish colour. I just put the black one in because it was a clearer picture. lol, and the bustier top is a ridiculous fit. Being pear-shaped = fail. but nah. I can still wear it, so that's lucky. =D I'm actually pretty happy with the shoe purchase too. I've been looking for nude/beige coloured heels for awhile, and these weren't particularly expensive, and they were also kind of special looking, so of course, I was all *swoon*.

I spent a bit much on the skirts and all. But whatevs. I don't intend on buying anymore skirts...ever really. LOL. so you know, why not I guess. I'm pretty much set for spring/summer actually, and I'm only watching 2 things on eBay at the moment that I probably won't buy either, so I don't think I'll be buying anything else for awhile. =]

Also, my computer has a virus. or two. It's a dialer and a trojan. FML. the stupid uni computers need anti-virus software. I got it off my damn usb. arghhh. And now I'm scared to even log onto my netbank. -_- lol, I've tried to manually delete as many of the infected files as I can without destroying my laptop...hm...hopefully that's enough, I doubt it is, but like, yeah. I guess we'll see. =[

Anywho, that's it for now.
Talk soon if my laptop is still alive...

Friends

So, I just had a chat to Sarah on the phone and I'm chatting to Vonny now on the interwebs. And I was thinking...

What makes you feel close to your friends?

Is chatting over the internet the same as seeing them? Is how close you are dependent on how much you go out? Can you still be close to someone and not have seen them or called them or anything else beyond leaving the occasional facebook message?

Hm...I guess the question is this. Do you feel closer to friends you see a lot, or friends that you chat to online a lot and see only rarely?

In other news, I've been buying it up on eBay again. I suppose that's not surprising. But I've mostly been stocking up on clothes for spring/summer. You know...maybe if I actually cleaned out my wardrobe I'd know what clothes I have, so maybe I wouldn't have to buy new things...

I'll clean after exams. Then it'll be time to repaint my room and stuff as well. woo!

OMG. By the way, the portfolio was EPIC. It ended up being 20 something pages. And I only just finished it in time to make the train. No editing. So...considering I stayed up the whole night [well, admittedly, I slept at 8am-11am, but that's not really night..], I probably have a kazillion typos in there. I mean, at 3 or something I was already doing stupid things like writing 'rules' as 'rools'. But hey, at least I'm not planning on becoming an English teacher, right? =P

Okay, next post = purchase post.
Love,
xx

Mad Hatter

I told you that I'd show you the hat I bought on eBay, so here it is.

This is how it looked when I bought it.

Not bad. In the picture that is. When it arrives in the mail, it's HUGE! In terms of sun protection, that's probably not a bad thing, but it looked very, very, peculiar on my head. I wish I had taken a photo, but...before I chickened out, I got a scissors and seriously just cut the brim. Like, just chopped it up. Snip snip!

So, essentially, I killed a vintage hat.

But now, I love it. =D Honestly, it took me about an hour to restitch the edges once I had cut it down to size, and the rewiring was one of the most frustrating tasks ever, but I think that just made me even prouder of my accomplishment. I just figured that I wouldn't ever wear it if I left it how it was, so yeah. This is how it looks now. Featuring my head.

Ah, I love goofy pictures of myself. I feel silly when I smile, so you know, pulling a face just tends to be easier. The second photo is how I naturally tend to hold my face anyway. bahhaha!

But yeah, back to the point. Now it just looks like a bowler hat. I prefer it that way. =]

Also, got a high waisted skirt in the mail today, and it was horrific. It fit. But I was flashing all over the joint, so I gave it to my sister who is lucky at the moment to not have crazy wide baby bearing hips. [She'll wish she had my hips when she decides to pop out one though. muahaha.] The skirt was only $7.50 anyway, so no big loss. Guess I'm starting to get less clingy with my purchases. Time to donate to charity! Or just offer to give you guys items that don't fit/that aren't my taste anymore...hm...

Oh, I might be missing for about a week since it'll be my hardcore assessment week.

Wish me luck guys!
xx

P.S. I'm sucking on soothers right now. Really hoping I don't get sick, considering colds won't even get you an extension on an assessment. Fail.

10 Random Facts

So you're all probably thinking 'BAH! she's stopped blogging AGAIN!' but it's holidays now, so I can sit here blogging all day if I want to. =D

Since it's 10:30 I decided to have a nice quick one before I go on one of my usual eBay mania posts tomorrow. Or the day after depending on when I'm home. In any case, I present 10 random facts. Hopefully 10. I just decided 10 because people usually use 10 for lists like this. or 100. but I couldn't think of 100 random facts even if I tried.

1. I am currently watching 39 things on eBay. I will share some of the things I'm watching in my next post.

2. I felt good doing a presentation for the first time ever last Tuesday. Well, I had doubts as usual, but I think it was one of the better ones. woo!

3. I have an addiction to phoenix wright. This lawyerish nintendo ds game. It's EPIC!! I even fangirled really hard when I saw people cosplaying as him and his daughter at Animania. I'm such a nerd. I even took a picture! =P

4. I shop better with my parents because I reckon they're less judgemental with what I like/buy =P

5. Facebook no longer has my number one spot on google chrome. Any guesses what is number one now?

6. I know my exam timetable now, and I finish on the 19th. I have exams on the 10th, 13th, and 19th, so plenty of time to study! weeee. Shame I finish after Lauren's birthday though. =[

7. The other day I was wearing my black buckley flats, and I had two bandaids on and everything. Within 10 minutes my shoes had ripped through the bandaids and thrashed my feet. no joke. IT WAS PAAAAIN!

8. I think mummies had the right idea, wearing bandages and all. They don't need to waste their time with ineffective bandaids. Yes, I'm feeling bitter. XD

9. That dust storm made my throat hurt for a day. Awesome, right? It was funny though, I saw more people wearing face masks that day than I ever did for the whole swine flu thing.

10. It is 58 minutes past this number at the moment I am writing this. =D

Okay. That's it folks, I'm going to go nom on some mango now.

Go eat some moon cake btw, it's that lovely time of year after all!

Talk soon.

Super Slurge

I am currently in the midst of the biggest eBay splurge of my LIFE. To my standards, I would consider my purchases a bit more in the 'basics' pile, rather than my usual crazy ass purchases. So hopefully for my own sake these things end up being worn to shreds. =D Time to really up the ante on the job search methinks. -_-

I'll show you my purchases once I'm done splurging. I do have to note though, that I am also bidding on a couple of Nintendo DS games..so...that doesn't count. XD But yes.

Expect a purchase post soon. =]

Love much,
xx

P.S. Currently watching Miss Universe. I love seeing all the whacky costumes they have to represent their country. It's so awesome. [and sometimes epic lols! XD]

Wheels & D'oh! Baby

I haven't blogged in lightyears!

I've been tremendously busy with uni though. As of the end of week 3, I am amazingly still keeping up with the work. chyeah!

As part of my uni course I was placed at maquarie fields hs to do an observation day last thursday. It was pretty effing good. I think I'm quite fond of that school now. lol. I wouldn't mind going back there one day. We got to sit in on three lessons. None of the ones I got were completely selective classes. But, I got 1 year 11 class [which was AMAZING, the teacher is awesome, and is really passionate about the whole teaching thing, it was really nice to experience], the 'dumb' year 9 english class [which was pretty interesting too, apparently they were more misbehaved than usual because we were there, lmao], and a combined year 12 class that was doing revision for the trials. When we weren't observing we were pretty much just chatting to the teachers there, being shown around and getting to know how things work and how things are gunna be when we become teachers. I dunno. It kind of made me want to be a teacher. =]

On a different note, one of the things I've been attracted to lately: Wheels and Dollbaby. Their clothes are very...pin up girl. But there are a few pieces of theirs that I absolutely adore. They're a Sydney based company too, and unfortunately, very expensive. However, that's the beauty of eBay, right? I'll compile a lovely collage of some of their items that I love at the moment.

One of the W&D items I'm watching on eBay atm ends in..10 minutes. So I'll let you know how that goes at the end of my post. hahah. This is what it looks like:

The white bit actually looks a bit more creamy in the dress being sold though. But yeah, I really like it. =]

Also, I quite like bustiers at the moment too. Um..the ones that look like clothes though. not actual lingerie. I'll show you a few examples if I come across some that I like. The ones on eBay atm aren't too flash. Sportsgirl had a realllyyyy nice one a month or so back, but it was around 90 bucks...so no. lol. I've also come to finally understand the leotard thing. They're good layering pieces! And you don't have to worry about pulling down your top or whatever. But...they still don't float my boat, and the impracticalities still irk me. [seriously, bathroom anyone?!]

and omg. I lost the dress. Ah...what can you do eh? It ended up going for 150 buckeroonies though. I guess some people just wanted it more. =P

Anywho, enough for now. I'll try to get back into the swing of things. =]

Buying Bonanza

So after behaving for yonks after exams, I've decided to go on a spending spree. Which is bad. Spending money really makes me feel guilty now. well actually, no. Spending money on outings and real-life shopping makes me feel bad...And the material and stuff for cosplay purposes. That was depressing. No joke. I was crying on the inside, I think I spent 50 bucks or so all up on material, and although I usually spend more collectively on eBay, it's because I know what I end up with will actually be of good quality. So, you know...this will probably the first and last time I'm crazy enough to cosplay. T_T Anywhoo, purchases!
I am currently in love with strapless dresses, as you may have noticed. I've been wanting studded heels for a LONG time now, and I think my addiction with shoes is more about owning them than wearing them. Kind of like collectables in a sense. As strange as that sounds. loll. I also don't have a single pair of chucks, and since these were lovely, I figured why not. I ended up getting it for $22.50 including postage. WIN! Lucky too...I was talking to Roger on msn and forgot that I had to bid on the shoes. When I finally checked back there was only 15 seconds left, so I quickly bid and got in with one second left to go!!!!! It was nuts.

Normally I'd be really.....against wearing lace leggings, because they look so bad on lots of people. I'm sure I'll be included in that. lmao. But the pattern on these is so different. I just couldn't pass them up. Er....don't ask about the black dress. I can sense it's going to be a disaster, lmao, but I dunno, there's a strange sexyness about it. For some reason it reminds me of dominatrixes and such, but...well...let's not go there.

I think that's all I'm going to buying for awhile. I'll probably focus on selling. I'm only putting new stuff up once all the previous items sell. I think it's for organisational purposes more than anything else. I'm just too much of a noob to handle mass amounts of postage details..

On a different note, it's the last week of holidays. =[ If you think about it though...13 weeks of uni isn't so bad...and since I'm only there 3 days a week this sem I'll only be at uni 39 days. Which is just a bit more than a month all together. As long as I just think that, it's a-okay! right?

Enough rambling!
xx

In about half an hour I'm going to clean out my closet.

Then I'm going to sell a whole truck load of crap on eBay. Luckily for me, lots of stuff I buy still has tags on it. =/ I guess you can tell I'm an impulse buyer. I'm currently watching 21 things on eBay too. So I figure if I'm ever going to sell anything, then now is probably a good time to do it...

I'm so over writing emo blog entries. However, I have to admit, not having to talk to anyone or go out is making me feel pretty good. I'm hoping to scrape up okay so that I can have a few last ditch attempts at partying through the night before uni starts again. lol. I don't really think I'm cut out for the hardcore partying life. I need recovery time. I think I got so effed up because I was barely home in the first week of holidays. Then after that all I had was a one day recovery before popping out again. There's lots of stuff I haven't documented in my blog because I was having emo spazz attacks, but I'll hop back on the blogging wagon soon enough.

Talk soon.

The eBay Post

First off, exams have been better than expected. And I haven't been feeling absolutely sick before going in to do them. hahah. PROGRESS! Also, I finally have a three day timetable next semester. Time to stop being a bum and go look for a job. You know your chances are slim when even maccas won't take you though. lmao.

Anyway...as promised, I'm going to show you what I've been buying from eBay! Note that prices don't include postage. I didn't really think you'd be interested in that..

...Don't ask me why I put the details of the shoe under it. I was just experimenting with where it should go and was like 'ohay! it fits under the shoe! HAHAHA' so...I left it there. lmao. Bidding for the dress ends tomorrow and the bidding for the shoes ends in a few days. I'm watching other stuff too, but I don't really intend on buying them, so I didn't bother including them in the list. =] Also, with my purchases, the damn utility dress was too big. I'm trying to convince my mum to help me take it in [and really, it needs A LOT of taking in], but she's like 'it's going to screw it up! just sell it!!!'. But I like it. And I see lots of potential for it. Hm...I'll figure it out.

Lately I've been studying in my room. My desk is in front of the window, so usually I get to stare out and admire the outside world while I'm stuck inside studying. It isn't all bad though...

Gotta love poladroid.

Seeing Squidge and Von tomorrow. =D YAY.

my next entry is going to be a cracker. *wink*

'Til then,

you know how people say that every girl needs a little black dress for her wardrobe?

Well, I have about a kazillion of them.

And I'm looking to add more to the collection! But it's odd, even though it's seen as an essential, I barely ever wear them. Maybe it's because I haven't found 'the one'. I dunno. I suppose if you have lots you don't need to find 'the one' anyway, since you already have loads to choose from. ha. [n.b. this does not apply to bfs. =P]

In my next entry I'll show you the stuff I'm watching/buying from eBay while I've been procrastinating. And how much it cost me. Just so you get an idea of how much I'm actually willing to spend. Exciting, huh?

...I appreciate your fake enthusiasm. =D

Love lots,

My attempt at neglecting eBay is over. We're back together and happier than ever. Expect wedding invites soon, and little eBay babies.

Okay, that's just creepy.

I won the item I was bidding on. I got it for 16 bucks. Which isn't too shabby really. =] Since Lauren said she wanted to seeee, this is what I bought!

Looks nice and beat up doesn't it? Apparently that's the inteded look though, so...it shouldn't fall apart too easily. hahaha. I was looking for blazers actually and after the unsatisfactory results I just started looking for jackets in general, and...I dunno. This is a bit more unusual. I think that's why I like it. I see a lot of potential for it. =]

It should come in the mail by the end of the week! I'll show you what it looks like when it arrives. =D

I'm waking up SUPER early to go shopping tomorrow. For nothing in particular. It's just that every shop seems to be having a sale at the moment, so maybe I'll be able to find loads of nice and cheap stuff. Hopefully I'll get home nice and early too, then I can have a huge study session after feeling satisfied with all that shopping. lmao.

I'm currently looking out for a circle scarf by the way. Let me know if you see one!

Love much,
xx

P.S. If you're curious about how my study regime is gunna go, this is my plan:

Tomorrow and Wednesday - Education
Thurs - Sunday - Political Economy

Yes. Ecop is receiving some hardcore attention. I'll be abandoning msn while I study too. If I'm online and want to talk, I'll actually come online. If not, I'm not gunna sign in on msn. I need to focus!! Sorry homies! Talk soon.
